Weekly Wrap Up (Jul. 7th, 2025 - Jul. 13th, 2025)
music from across the global that caught my attention last week
What going on guys? Hope everyone’s had a little bit more of a positive week this time around. I know I initially said I was gonna get up the next volume of ‘I’m Sorry I’m Late!’, but with everything that happened that day I wasn’t exactly in the best head space to finish & post. Nor did it feel like the right thing to do. Also, there’s new shit I keep finding and wanting to add on (ikr lol), so I’ve gotta re-cut it down again now as well. This Thursday or next is the new goal! So keep your eyes peeled for that. I’m excited; it covers some of the music I’ve been listening to the most so far this year…..
Changing lanesss— oh my gaWDD… *maniacal laugh* As you can see I may or may not have also figured out I just can download gif’s and slap em right in there like any other ‘ol photo ahah. I’m so sorry in advance for what y’all are about to experience but I’m gonna go so crazy !! Jk lmfao, I’ll try my hardest to show some restraint— pinky promise! A quick aside on that: I’ve also made the executive decision to size up the album covers featured in these posts a wee bit moving forward to account for the fact there might be some other images, and I still want the artwork getting the proper space it deserves if that makes sense. Kinda feels like I’m ‘disrespecting’ the artist in a certain way if, for example, there’s a gif (about roughly the same size as the album cover) of Tim Robinson in a hot dog suit or some shit right above it. Also while we’re on the topic, think I should clarify my thought process behind em quickly too: so the album cover I choose to be the ‘featured one of the week’ (aka the one front n center on the post preview), is my favorite release of the week only about half of the time maybe. My overriding ethos is definitely aesthetic, or curb appeal so-to-speak, above all else— if there’s some super sick artwork, or it simply flows V well on the front page, that’s the one I’m going with. Speaking of which, this week’s one of those where I’ve got the annoying (albeit, admittedly good) problem of having bout six different ones I wanna pick !! So who knows, I might alternate it every other week or something I’m not quite sure yet.
Okay that’s enough rambling about album covers n shit from me, so without further adieu let’s get right on into it….
“Weekly Wrap Up” is a series dropping every Monday highlighting some of my favorite music released over the past seven days. I usually try to keep it to ~10 entries; and it includes everything from new albums to random singles off SoundCloud to Bandcamp only compilations to maybe a Boiler Room performance on YouTube. The idea is just for this to be a small, organized collection with stuff like links and descriptors / tags (and maybe a little write up too, who knows?) so it’s easy to navigate and decide to what to check out, etc. It’s not fully comprehensive nor will it include big releases; exceptions obviously. Simply cool music from around the world I enjoyed throughout the past week. It’ll probably evolve more over time as I’m just getting back into it, but this is what I’m rolling with for now. Hope you enjoy!

I’m starting to become a real big fan of this trend where albums I loved from last year get this new deluxe edition, giving em a new burst of life + allowing me to cover em still instead of having to come up with some round-a-bout way in a random post titled ‘Albums from 2024 That I Enjoy and Want to Highlight for No Reason At All Other Than They’re Really Good and I Want to Talk About Them’. Actuallyyy hold on real quick… *deletes something* …uhhh, ok bet. Now where were we? Oh yeah, great shit guys! Let’s keep it up.
On that note— Babymorocco’s specific brand of sexed up hyperpop, combined with the more French electro side of EDM, is just so fucking addictive and fun to listen to ahhhhh! Like this shit just makes me wanna call all my friends and run around n dance while we get drunk!
*gets up from desk and runs around like a chicken with its head cut off looking for Mazzy* “C’mon Miss Kitty…!!” *picks her up as she meows & gives me ~the look~* “…we got some dancing to do girl!”

I really appreciate how there’re artists out rn making good music inspired by Mk.gee; and to see a new album that fits into that mold whilst still managing to feel like its own unique thing is super cool.
I am of course talking about DERBY’s Slugger.
Also I threw on that new J Bieber album just to see what everyone on the Internet was yappin about and good lord some ppl deserve to be slapped in the face with a piece of fucking bologna smfh; and I’ve even got a soft spot for a lot of Justin’s older Journals / Purpose era stuff. But no. Stop. Go listen to Dijon or Mk.gee or Jai Paul instead. Please.

This entry makes me feel so old lol— I still remember when Gazo first came out man. It was around the same time of Pop Smoke’s passing (Rest In Peace to the GOAT) and I remember him being touted as like ‘The’ French answer to Pop Smoke; essentially he was the new face of France’s trap scene with publications across the country dubbing him the ‘Prince of Drill’. I mean he’s got the deep, ominous voice perfect for that sound tbh; and at first everything he touched turned to gold, so they were kinda onto something. Like this man was on one of *those* runs if you know what I mean. (Oh yeah, he’s also the one to popularize translated subtitles as part of the music video itself. Which, as someone who listens to a lot of French music and recently tried to learn + sucked ass at it, I’ve always really enjoyed about his visuals)
Fast forward to the present however, and Gazo’s gone through your classic rapper arc of ‘start out by releasing a whole bunch of raw hard-as-hell stuff, followed up by a good first project, and then slowly following off more & more as they get bigger and more popular— transitioning from having a carefully curated, consistently good sound to releasing a bajillion different guest verses (some good, most super forgettable) to the point it causes their solo music to lose all its juice. Think like Lil Baby, NBA YoungBoy, Kodak Black, A$AP Rocky kinda (less so on the guest verses and more so on the overall decline in quality), etc. He’s fucking huge today though, so hard to argue he’s made the wrong choices lol. Surprised he hasn’t collaborated with Lil Baby yet tbh now that I think about it. For the record he’s currently sitting at nearly 7.5 million Spotify followers, that’s more than household names like Bruce Springsteen, Gwen Stefani and Deftones just to name a few; and more than rappers such as Earl Sweashirt, Freddie Gibbs and Madlib *combined* lmao. If you’re tapped into the UK drill scene you’ve prolly seen his name pop up before as he’s worked with M Huncho, Pa Salieu, Headie One and Unknown T to name a few; plus he had Offset on his last album. So yeah haha, you could definitely say he’s making a name for himself.
Nowadays, every now and then Gazo will wake up out of his money slumber and put out a banger. So I know he’s still got that ability in him; it’s just annoying seeing it only happen maybe once or twice a year. Ugh. Anyways, I digress. This is a positive entry! We fuck with Gazo round these parts! He’s dope :) Felt like I was watching a video of his from 2019 with this shit right here too.
KARL ANTHONY TOWNS !!

This rosaliedu38 transition from up n coming French hip hop producer to one of the people I’m most hype for currently making electro clash EDM type stuff has easily been one of my more favorite unexpected developments of the year so far. I can’t lie to y’all, I didn’t really see this one coming. The signs were always there I guess, but still… I’m so impressed. If anything, I guess I woulda put my money on like Vilhelm. or maybe ummm, esone & neophron on cranking out something like this? abel too ofc, I mean he’s GOAT’d but that goes without saying (read me say stuff about it here).
Like c’mon mannnnn, how tf do you even change up the beat six times and each time hits harder than the last?? I mean ffs rosaliedu38 really made this shit in fourty-eight hours too !! Be FR !
Now if you’ll excuse me reeeall quick…..
*takes a deep breath and hits play*
